Our sessions run over a period of 10 weeks and will be divided into 3 distinct phases.
Participants receive a commissioning brief from Shinawil, an established Irish production company, in advance of the programme, giving them time to develop ideas before arriving in the room. Over four days, mentor-led teams present their initial responses to the brief and develop series concepts, supported by expert sessions on topics such as story fundamentals, writers’ room dynamics and the Irish and international commissioning landscape. Teams are then asked to develop a full series outline and episode bible based on the brief.
Analysis & Development (4 days):
May 19th – May 22nd
Supervised by the mentor, writing teams continue to meet in their VR writers’ rooms to develop and refine their series outline and episode bible, with weekly check-ins. Material is then delivered to professional script editors for written feedback.
May 25th – June 5th
Participants receive constructive feedback on Phase #1 work, pitch their original series concepts and choose 3 for further development. Following work on story arcs and series outlines, teams will present pilot episode outlines for feedback. Showrunners will then assign writers to script pilot outlines.
Feedback and Commencement (4 days):
June 9th – June 12th
Writers craft series pilots and pitch documents, receive analysis and feedback from experts and peers and rewrite and polish their scripts.
June 15th – July 24th
Teams engage in final prep, practicing their pitches to industry experts culminating in a market session where teams will be invited to pitch their original series ideas to studios, broadcasters and streamers.
Pitching and Presentation (3 Day)
